After more than 1 year of cannabis legalization in Canada, New Brunswick has decided to privatize the distribution and sale of cannabis by bidding to privatize Cannabis NB, which operates about 20 stores in the province.
Alimentation Couche Tard has announced its intention to submit an offer via Fire & Flower of which it is a major shareholder.

Couche Tard had previously announced its intention to sell cannabis, which has more than 16,000 stores in 26 countries.
On July 24, 2019, Couche Tard invested in Fire & Flower, which operates 33 licensed cannabis and online retail stores in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Yukon.
With this agreement, Couche Tard owns 9.9% of Fire & Flower and can with the exercise of all their options own up to 50,1% of the company.
